Novo Brdo, Kosovo and Metohija, Serbia – Ramush Haradinaj, the president of the separatist government in Pristina, published on his Facebook profile on May 27th that the German State funded the project “important for our culture and our history”.

He visited the works with the German representative to the separatist government in Pristina, Christian Heldt.
It is a Serbian religious building of the middle of the 14th century, dedicated to Saint Nicolas. According to Marko Popovic, the co-author of the monograph on this church, published by the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments of Serbia, “it turns out that this cathedral has occupied a more prominent place in the development of the Serbian religious architecture than we thought.”
“The cathedral was built around the middle of the 14th century, then it was enlarged at the time of the despot Stefan Lazarevic, and after 1455 unfortunately it was turned into a mosque. One hundred years later, it was destroyed by an earthquake,” said Marko Popovic, a scientific advisor at the Archaeological Institute in Belgrade. In the 15th century, the bishop of Gračanica chaired at this church.
Popovic warned about the efforts to proclaim this church as a Catholic temple and thus to be indirectly removed from the cultural heritage of the Orthodox civilization of the Old Serbia.
